Our 'map of the world' is influenced by our experiences and our beliefs about our past. In turn, our map determines how we see our future and how we relate to others. When NLP allows us to broaden our map and expand our resources and abilities, we can let go of unhelpful emotions and limiting beliefs that prevent us from having the relationships we really want.
How we feel about ourselves, our levels of confidence and self esteem influence our relationships. How can we feel good about others in our lives if we don't feel good about ourselves? It's common for people to 'run strategies' that are sometimes described as 'beating myself up' or 'that nagging voice on my shoulder'. These strategies do no serve us well. They hold us back from experiencing our potential to feel good and do great things. The good news is that these strategies can be changed and transformed into positive ways of thinking and feeling.

We communicate to understand each other, build relationships and to ultimately connect with others. If we don't feel equipped to communicate openly and productively it can feel very difficult to 'connect' at all. In times of conflict this is even more so.
Anyone can learn communication skills including building rapport, listening (the right kind of listening, that is!), resolving conflict and more. It can also help to clear any limiting beliefs and negative emotions that make using the skills challenging, allowing the person to feel relaxed and able to deal with any situation. The communication skills taught within NLP are life changing skills that everyone can benefit from.
